ZoomTopo - Super High Resolution Interactive Images

ZoomTopo is the exciting future of climbing guidebooks and route information. We produce incredibly high definition crag and mountain photos. These stunning images have selectable route lines showing where climbing routes go with greater clarity than ever before.

The Photos

Our high detail photos are full of useful information. For example, in our Indian Face photo you can zoom in to see every chalked crimp used on recent ascents, and where the gear placements and rests are too.

We produce ZoomTopos by taking hundreds of images with a telephoto lens and combining them into software to create the final image. We want these pictures to be beautiful so we will often wait months for the correct conditions to take the photos. These pictures are often over 100,000 pixels across or equivalent to a 9,000 mega pixel digital camera.

For viewing the pictures are converted into a tiled format that allows zooming and scrolling over the web without having to download the original huge images.

The Overlays

Our sleek interface allows you to easily identify your chosen route. You can select a route from a list, search by name, or simply click on the route line in the image. The route lines displayed on the image can be filtered by grade or quality. For example, to display all the three star HVSs at the crag only a few mouse clicks would be needed.

Benefits to Your Organisation

We have several more images in the pipeline, including Ben Nevis, Dinas Cromlech and High Tor. Contact us if you would like to have one embedded on your website. The benefits to you include:

Huge increases in website traffic as climbers use ZoomTopos to identify and discuss routes. Have your logo, product images and marketing messages embedded in the Zoom Topo Link to the rest of your website including your adverts, product pages and on-line store.

Stanage ZoomTopo

This 8,000 megapixel image picture shows a slice of the diverse activities that take place on the amazing Stanage Edge, Derbyshire. With this image I wanted to capture the busyness the beauty and vulnerability of the most popular climbing crag in the country. The 800 source images were taken on location over several months. Find beginner climbers taking their first steps, seasoned experts climbing in the higher grades, walkers, runners, paragliders and even Edale Mountain Rescue Team out in force.
